Robotic Data Flows Workshop

26.06.2013 | Taşkışla

Instructors: Sigrid Brell Çokçan (TU Vienna)

Organizers: E. Gürer, S. Alaçam, Z. Bacınoğlu

This workshop will introduce participants to the basic concepts of handling a KUKA robot and explore ways of linking data with a robotic arm. As an open minded and expandable environment Grasshopper can access a wide variety of data sources, from geometric objects, to G-Code, image files, and even 3D scanning data. KUKA|prc enables us to access this data in near-realtime and translate it into KUKA Robot Language (KRL). Whenever the input data changes, the resulting robot code changes along with it, allowing a rapid design iteration and optimization.
Such strategies are highly relevant in architecture, as they can be applied for mass customization -the automated fabrication of individual, self-similar, building components such as structural members or facade panels.
